About SBI PO 2021
The State Bank of India (SBI) is an Indian multinational, public sector banking and financial services company. SBI features amongst the Fortune Global 500 list of the world’s biggest corporations as of 2016. It is also one of the biggest employers of the country with about 2.1 lakh employees as of 31 March 2017. The SBI conducts recruitment for both officer and clerk level posts through the SBI PO and SBI Clerk examinations respectively.
The SBI PO is by far the most prestigious banking sector examination in the country as it provides it with the gateway to building a rewarding career with one of the most coveted banks in the nation. The SBI PO exam, as the name suggests, is conducted for the recruitment of Probationary Officers, which is the highest entry-level officer cadre post.
The SBI PO Exam has always been on the stricter side, in terms of overall difficulty level, but off-late it has also gained the reputation of throwing surprises at the test takers. Over the past couple of years, the difficulty level of the paper has gone up a notch as new question types and patterns were introduced. Also with the introduction of sectional timings in Prelims is another change that has been introduced in the 2018 exam.
SBI PO 2021 Exam Pattern
The selection is done on the basis of an examination which is held in two phases: preliminary and mains. Applicants who qualify in the preliminary examination and are shortlisted, appear for the Main examination. Applicants who qualify for the main examination are called for Group Exercises & Interview. The details of each of the selection stages are mentioned below.
SBI PO 2021 Prelims Exam
Preliminary Examination consists of Objective Test for 100 marks conducted in the online mode. This test is of 1 hour and consists of 3 sections.. There is a penalty of 1/4th marks for each wrong answer in the objective test.
Applicants must qualify in each of the three sections by securing passing marks which are decided by the Bank. An adequate number of applicants in each category (approximately 20 times the numbers of vacancies (subject to availability) are shortlisted for the Main Examination.

SBI PO 2021 Mains Exam
The mains examination consists of an objective test of 200 marks and an English Descriptive Test of 50 marks. There is a penalty of 1/4th marks for each wrong answer in the objective test. Both tests are conducted in online mode. The descriptive test is administered immediately after the completion of the objective test.

English Descriptive Test
The descriptive test is of 30 minutes carrying a total of 50 marks. It is a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay Writing). The test is qualifying in nature. The descriptive Test paper will be evaluated for only those applicants who score qualifying marks in the objective tests and are placed adequately high.
SBI PO Group Exercises (20 marks) & Interview (30 marks)
For the final selection, only the marks obtained in the Mains Examination (Phase-II) are added. Both Objective Test and Descriptive Test is considered for this purpose. To this, marks obtained in the Group Exercises & Interview are added for the preparation of the final merit list.
SBI PO 2021 Notification
The notification of the SBI PO Exam is released sometime between February – April every year. The registration process lasts for about a month.
Any applicant who fulfils the eligibility criteria and aspires to join the State Bank of India as a Probationary Officer is required to register online for the Recruitment Process.
The examination is held in two phases: Preliminary and Main. Applicants who qualify in the Preliminary Examination are shortlisted to appear for Mains Examination. Applicants who qualify Mains Examination are called for Group Exercises & Interview.

SBI PO 2021 Eligibility Criteria
Applicants, intending to apply for SBI PO should ensure that they fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria as specified by SBI in their advertisement.
The eligibility criteria for SBI PO 2021 is as follows:-
Age Criteria
- Minimum: 21 years
- Maximum: 30 years
Not below 21 years and not above 30 years as of 01.04.2020 i.e. applicants must have been born not later than 01.04.1999 and not earlier than 02.04.1990 (both days inclusive).
Educational Qualifications
- Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.
- Final year students are also eligible to apply.
- Applicants possessing the qualification of Chartered Accountant are also eligible.
SBI PO 2021 Application Process
Only an online mode of application is accepted. The details/guidelines are mentioned below.
Prerequisites for Applying Online
Before applying online, applicants should:-
- Applicants are required to register themselves online through Bank’s website: www.sbi.co.in/careers or www.statebankofindia.com/ careers. After registration applicants are required to pay the requisite application fee through online mode by using debit card/credit card / Internet Banking.
- Applicants must have a valid Email ID which should be kept active till the declaration of results.
- Scanned copy of Photograph, Signature and other required documents as mentioned in the notification.
Application Fees/ Intimation Charges
- Non-Reserved Category (General/EWS/OBC) – Rs 125
- Reserved Category (SC/ST/PWD) – Rs 750
Steps to Apply for SBI PO Exam Online
- Step 1: Applicants must keep a scanned copy of their photograph and signature handy.
- Step 2: Visit the Bank’s website www.statebankofindia.com/careers or www.sbi.co.in/careers and open the appropriate Online Application Format, available in the current openings section.
- Step 3: Carefully fill the application carefully.
- Step 4: A provisional registration number and password will be generated by the system and displayed on the screen. This should be noted down carefully.
- Step 5: Post ensuring the correctness of the particulars of the application form, pay the fees.
- Final Step: On successful completion of the transaction, e-receipt and application are generated which may be printed for record.
SBI PO Admit Card
Applicants will have to visit the official website for downloading call letters for SBI PO 2021 examination. Intimation for downloading call letter will also be sent through email/SMS. The applicant is required to use (i) Registration Number/Roll Number, (ii) Password/Date of Birth for downloading the call letter.
