The Full form of BAMS

The full form of BAMS is a Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery. It is an undergraduate medical course in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and several South Asian countries. Students who are integrated into traditional Ayurveda techniques, as well as modern medicines, are awarded this degree, after 5 and half years duration including 1-year internship. Vaidyer (VR.) is the honorific title graduates use.

 Students are prepared for insightful scholarships in the science of Ayurveda and extensive practical training.  The program provides a student to be a research scholar, knowledgeable teacher, proficient Ayurveda physician and surgeon (after being registered in a government-approved licensing body) to contribute his might to the health services.

Ayurveda has long been considered to be one of the most ancient and best forms of medical treatment in the world. It has its roots back in the Vedic Era where several problems would occur due to three kinds of things problems such as the Kapha, Pitta, and Bata. Problems in these three systems of the human body would be what caused the diseases to occur and they could be fixed in similar methods as well.

BAMS undergraduate course is segregated into three sections of 1.5 years each, named as three professional courses. The first course teaches the students about anatomy, physiology, and history of Ayurveda as a treatment system. The students are taught about toxicology and pharmacology during the second professional course. The last and final course makes students understand surgeries, skin treatments, ENT and gynecology.
