AIBE 2020 All India Bar Exam

The All India Bar Examination or the AIBE is conducted every year to test the ability of advocates, who want to practice law in India. It is a qualifying examination to get the “Certificate of Practice” for the legal profession. The exam is conducted by the Bar Council of India. The languages of the examination are Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu. All the questions in AIBE 2020 will be of MCQ Type, so it is advisable for the candidates to practice the previous year paper and syllabus.

AIBE 2020 Application Form

  • Students can fill the application form from the last week of September 2020.
  • The application form will be filled through online mode only, through the website allindiabarexamination.com.
  • Students are advised to fill all the details correctly in the application form to involve personal & academic details.
  • Students have to upload a passport size photograph and signature at the time of registration.
  • Students also have to upload the self-attested documents in the application form.
  • Reserved category students must upload a self-attested category certificate in the application form.
  • Do not send the hard copy of the application or other documents to the Bar Council of India.
  • Students are advised to take a printout of the application form for future use.
  • Students can make payment in the SBI bank
  • The application fee will be non-refundable in any circumstances.

Eligibility Criteria for AIBE 2020

  • Students applying for AIBE 2020 must be Indian.
  • Students should be completing three years or five years in L.L.B. from a BCI Law School.
  • There is no specification about the scores considered for admission.
  • Those from Law Graduates should catch advocate enrolment cards provided by the state bar council. 
  • They must be applying for State Bar Council.
  • There is no mention of any age criteria.
  • The candidates who want to apply for AIBE can make several attempts.
  • Students must be an Indian citizen.
  •  There will be no age limit criteria.
  • Students must have passed a 3 or 5-year bachelor’s degree in LLB from any recognized university.
  • Students must have enrolled with their respective State Bar Council.

AIBE 2020 Exam Pattern

  • Mode of Exam: Offline (pen and paper-based) mode.
  • Duration: 3 hours & 30 minutes (2:00 PM to 5:30 PM).
  • Type of Questions: Objective type questions.
  • Part: The paper will be divided into two parts, i.e., Part I & Part II.
  • Marking Scheme: One score will be given for each correct answer.
  • Negative Marking: No score will be cut for wrong answers.

AIBE 2020 Admit Card

  • Before 1/2 weeks (s) examination, AIBE Admit Card will be issued from BCI. Admit cards for AIBE 2020 will be available on AIBE official website. Students must carry the admit card when they enter in the examination hall, and along with the admit card they must carry any photo identity card.

AIBE 2020 Result

  • AIBE 2020 result will be available on AIBE’s official website. students who have been there in the test can get the results over this website with some simple process where the date of birth & roll number will be used.

AIBE Counseling 2020

  • Admission to PG  & UG programs in participating Colleges will be done through centralized counseling organized by the authority. AIBE counseling 2020 will commence in Oct 2020.
  • The online counseling shall be conducted in various rounds. Allotment of seats will be on the basis of ‘merit-cum-preference’.Selected students for admission have to pay the counseling fee.   • Students are required to go through the test pattern & the syllabus.
  • Students can make a proper time table and study schedule.
  • Students are advised to go through the previous year question
  • Students can make short notes.
  • First, prepare the topic in which you need improvement and then move ahead for other topics.

FAQ for AIBE 2020

Q: How several, times is AIBE held in a year?

A: AIBE test is conducted twice a year by BCI i.e in September-October & December-January.

Q: When will the next AIBE be held?

A: AIBE 15 will be the next test & would be held in March or April 2020.

Q: Is passing the AIBE exam mandatory?

A: Yes, for the students who passed their LLB degree from 2010 onwards it is now mandatory to clear the AIBE examination to practice law as an advocate. The bar councils of all the states are ensuring that the enrolled lawyers appear for AIBE and pass the examination. If any enrolled lawyer fails to do that then they are barred from the councils/ associations until they pass the AIBE examination. 

Q: How many times can anyone clear for the AIBE test?

A: Since, it is important for provisionally enrolled advocates to clear AIBE to practice law, for that reason, no limit is applied to the number of times one can take the test. Students can accordingly appear for AIBE until they clear the test.

Q: Is AIBE conducted offline or online?

A: AIBE is conducted in offline mode i.e. students have to score their answers on the OMR sheet.

Q: Is AIBE an open book test? 

A: Yes. AIBE is an open book test i.e. students can take the help of books and study material to attempt/ solve the question paper.

Q: Will I be provided with material or books in the examination hall?

A: No, the test center officials or BCI does not provide any study material for the test-takers. All students have to carry their own study material for appearing in the test.

Q: Which books should be referred for the AIBE test? 

A: The best books for AIBE test as suggested by experts are – the Bare Acts, AIBE previous years solved papers, commentaries & short notes on case laws.

Q: When will the AIBE results be declared?

A: BCI announced the test results within 2  months of conducting the examination. 

Q: What is the passing score criteria for AIBE? 

A: BCI has specified that to pass the AIBE test, students need to obtain at least a 40% score of the total score if belonging to the General/ OBC category and, 35% score if belonging to SC/ ST category. 

Q: When will the ‘Certificate of Practice’ be issued to AIBE passed students?

A: The ‘Certificate of Practice’ is generally issued within 30 days of the AIBE result declaration. 

Q: How to get COP after passing the AIBE examination? 

A: After the result is announced, BCI will publish the list of the state bar councils for COP availability to AIBE passed students. The students can contact their respective state bar councils to receive the COP.
