The Full form of IIEST

IIEST Full Form – The full form of IIEST is the Indian Institute of Engineering, Science, and Technology, Shibpur. It is located near Shibpur in the Howrah district of West Bengal and is ranked as the 19th best engineering institute in India. It has also been recognized as an INI or Institute of National Importance by the Government of India under the MHRD and is grouped with the IITs, NITs, and other institutes. The institute was established back in 1856 and is hence the second oldest institute in India offering engineering courses, ranked only after IIT Roorkee. This adds historical importance to the institute as well as a sense of national heritage.

Back in 1906, Mining Engineering was a discipline recently introduced in Indian Engineering Colleges in order to meet the requirements to work in Indian Mines imposed by the British. During post-independence, the Chief Minister of West Bengal – Dr. B.C. Roy had revived the department in order to satisfy the demands for Mining Engineers in the nation, and therefore, the Department of Mining and Geology was established in the institution.

The college offers admission to students for both undergraduate and postgraduate engineering courses with the entrance exam JEE Main, and GATE/JAT respectively. The college is fully stocked with all facilities that students require to innovate and create new horizons in the fields of Science and Engineering. It has a 24×7 library of 3,000 square meters and it is fully stocked with more than 150,000 books and 40,000+ journals.
